Velorutionaries - Darren Rudkin
Darren Rudkin - Pelago Bristol
What do you do for a living?
I work for a small leadership training company that supports international clients in developing more conscious and purposeful leaders.
What are you passionate about?
Food, film, sport, what makes people tick, beauty and what lies under the surface.
How long have you been a cyclist?
My mum used to say “THURSDAYS child has far to go“ - I’ve always been a mover but the love of bikes got serious when my mum bought me a new red Raleigh Chopper for Christmas when I was 8 years old. 3 gears, classic look - me and that bike circumnavigated Liverpool a thousand times
What Velorution bike are you riding?
A Pelago Bristol from Finland. I own a really nice racing bike but wanted something classic, beautiful and upright for a more leisurely ride. also have a so spot for Scandinavian design and the Pelago Bristol has a nice mix of comfort beauty and speed. The team at Velorution couldn’t have been more helpful - they are quick to get you on the bikes for test rides, so you get to try them out, and I like that.
What appeals to you about cycling?
Movement, speed, wind in your face, seeing places close up and the chance to feel your heart pumping.
How often do you ride and where?
I ride to my local swimming pool a few times a week - Bushy park , Richmond Park and Box Hill are my local playgrounds.
What’s your favourite cycle route or destination?
I love the Trail Ridge Road climb over the Rocky Mountain National Park, starting at Grand Lake in Colorado State, the largest natural body of water in Colorado - I have a great picture of a moose at the side of the road - it's a magical place and the views at the top are breathtaking.
