The cheapest way into gravel riding that I would actually recommend. Aluminium frame, steel fork, Shimano Altus 8-speed and 700x40C tyres — enough bike for towpaths, park trails and broken tarmac without pretending to be a race machine.
The useful part is the mounts: two on the top tube, two on the seat tube, three on the down tube, plus front and rear rack mounts. That makes it a commuter and a weekend bike rather than one or the other.
Mechanical disc brakes rather than hydraulic, which is the obvious concession at this price. Ships in the US from Retrospec.
